The Luton Area BBS is a FREE public access bulletin board system that is run as a hobby, where you can post messages not only to local users, but to people world-wide using Fidonet netmail and echomail, along with gaining access to a massive file database.
You can send FREE routed Fidonet netmail (similar to e-mail) to users on any of several thousand BBS systems world-wide, and several hundred echomail conferences (similar to newsgroups) are imported on a daily basis so you will no doubt find something to interest you. Off-line mail is available via BlueWave or FTSC compatible mailer, to keep your costs to a minimum.
The file database contains several thousand files available for download including; applications, utilities, games, and patches for DOS, Windows 3.1x, Windows 95/98, along with Hints/Cheats/Tips/Levels for DOOM!, DOOM! II, Command & Conquer RED Alert!, Quake and many other games as well. There are also many BBS related files, such as Doors, Systems, Mailers, and also PC utilities, FAQ's, pictures, sounds, and more. The Luton Area BBS is connected to over 100 Fidonet file echoes, so that the latest releases may be available when you call. With over 1 gigabyte of hard drive storage, and up to 5 CD-ROMs on-line, there is always a large selection of files.
The LA BBS is a FULL Fidonet node, and is also the WHQ for CableNet (the friendly network for mail and InterBBS games).
